Claire Mcloughlin my journey
Hi, I’m Claire and I’m not your typical health and fitness instructor. I’m 46 and a single parent to a 17-year-old boy, named Keanu, (yes he is named after Keanu Reeves). My journey with health and fitness started when I went through my own weight issues and struggled through a low point in my life. As much as it is hard to deal with at times, it was the greatest gift I was given. They say “when you face difficult times, know that challenges are not sent to destroy you. They are sent to promote, increase and strengthen you.” I realised I was on the wrong path in life.
We all have our struggles with our diets and I know first-hand how difficult it can be to refrain from changing your eating habits. Mental health issues can set you back and make you feel defeated. Having one binge day can seem like your diet is ruined, but the key to getting back on track is a strong mind. I get up every day and think ‘this is my first day, and I will succeed’. This was a trick I used when I gave up smoking ten years ago. I never gave up trying.
Doing my workout
I am working to set up a support group at St Pauls Community Centre. This will be an hour session, involving a section where I will give you information to help you to understand how your body works how to use this knowledge to your advantage. We will discuss as a group our struggles and help motivate each other with whatever diet you choose. I will be able to offer 1-1 online sessions if you are not able to come to the group, through virtual video calls.
Being a life coach
This service helps you to embrace yourself fully. With my life coaching skills, I help to give you the tools to deal with your individual battles. If you’re trying to lose weight and getting frustrated with the results on the scales, it’s important to know that you could be gaining muscle while losing fat. I offer alternative ways of measuring yourself so that you can see your own progress. I will coach you through those difficult and demoralising times to give you the perspective to keep striving. Our number one downfall is our strength of mind. With this help, you can keep pushing your body through your willpower.
If you want something you've never had, you must be willing to do something you've never done...

I am a Body Shop at home consultant. I have been doing this for 14 months now. Being a body shop consultant has really helped me gain confidence over time. I have a Facebook group, where I show products, let you know of the latest deals and I even run raffles and on occasions I will do freebie competitions and my own sales. I have learnt so much about skin care over the past 14 months and have great support from the team I am with. In the 14 months I have got 1 member in my team, who I recruited in my second month. I have earned quite a few freebies over the years. As I started in Covid there were no trips to win. I use this as a little extra income. The extra income I have used to help me with bills. In the future I would like to progress further with this journey.

The right diet for you
I have always fluctuated in weight throughout life, so I decided I would take on a course in nutrition and personal training to help myself understand more. After a while, I recognised that I wanted to help others in my situation. I have overcome my own demons to let each day become a fresh start. My motivation for being fit is to live a long healthy life and watch my son turn into the great man I raised him to be.
I also assist in weight loss journeys, working with you to set goals that you feel you can achieve while challenging you. At present I am creating a blog for style tips and tricks, so stay tuned for a link to access these free guides.
